Abstract

During the harvest, the peanut seed is subject to a series of procedures that allow the entrance of fungi, which affect its quality. When conditions are unfavorable to germination, the activity of these fungi produces a decrease in the stand of plants. The purpose of this work is to identify the fungi species transported by peanut seed (Arachis hypogaea L.) of the Runner and Valencia types, proceeding from five localities of the cultivation area in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium spp., Penicillium sp., and in low grade Alternaria sp., Chaetomium sp., and Coniothyrium sp., though in different proportions, were the identified species showing higher levels of presence in both varieties in the different localities.
