Population dynamics according to regions in Argentina

This descriptive correlational study examines population dynamics in different Argentine regions. Official data were used and analyzed with descriptive, bivariate and multivariate statistical techniques. Results suggest that Argentine population grows at a steady rate of 1% annually. Fertility rate projections and estimations are decreasing. In the North fertility and mortality rates are high, whereas in most provinces in the center and in Mendoza both rates are low. Patagonia is the region that has presented the largest changes in the last decade. In the Northest and Northwest regions Friz index is higher than 1.6; which means that the population is young. Capital Federal, on the other hand, tends to an aging population. Values referring to the presence of a lot of young population are positively associated to poverty markers and lack of medical coverage and service offer.Downloads
