Organizational factors that trigger the Burnout Syndrome in nurses

Abstract

The objective of this review was determine the organizational factors that influence the Burnout in nurses. This is a bibliographic review where a search was made in the  databases  Cinahl, Scielo, Lilacs, Medline and Epistemonikos among October 2018 and May 2019, in relation to the organizational factors that trigger Burnout in nurses. Preliminarily, a total of 29,993 articles were obtained, however, after applying criteria for inclusion, exclusion and exhaustive selection, 99 articles were selected in English, Spanish and Portuguese, published within the last 10 years. The The results showed
of the 99 selected studies, three factors were identified, related to organizational components that trigger Burnout in nurses; highlights: human resources management, structural factors and management factors. The previously mentioned factors were disaggregated into subfactors and according to these were classified geographically. Within the human resources management factor, the subfactor with the greatest impact is related to rotation. In structural factors, working conditions are the most prevalent. With respect to managerial factors, the most frequent is related to recognition. According to the continent where the investigations were carried out, the largest proportion of articles derives from South America. It is concluded that the Burnout Syndrome in nurses is a problem determined by various factors that vary depending on the organizational culture
