La fuga de capitales, en su efecto esencial es el incremento de "los créditos de residentes de un país contra residentes de un país extránjero que no generan ingresos computables en las estadísticas de balanza de pagos del primero. Este fenómeno fue sufrido por Argentina especialmente en la década de los años ochenta.
