Algunas evaluaciones importantes se dedicaron fundamentalmente a examinar logros educativos, sin considerar el nivel y el impacto de los diferentes factores que componen el proceso de enseñanza. Este trabajo intenta cubrir esa falencia empleando una amplia prueba objetiva que proporciona alguna infor-mación sobre el nivel socioecónomico de los alumnos, complementada con datos sobre las condiciones de los maestros y algunas características de las escuelas.
