Abstract

In the book “Agri-food scenarios for Latin America and the Caribbean: Prospective study to the year 2040”, a team of specialists worked on the main economic, social, political, technological and environmental variables that affect the agri-food issue for the region.

The work was coordinated by María Mercedes Patrouilleau, researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology of Argentina (INTA). The team is made up of Mario Daniel Anastasio, professor at the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires (FAUBA), Jean François Le Coq, researcher at the French Agricultural Research and Cooperation Center (CIRAD) and Octavio Sotomayor, affairs officer. economics of the Natural Resources Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). In collaboration with an extensive group of analysts, they tackle the task of analyzing the variables to propose four possible scenarios that outline the agri-food panorama of the region in the next two decades.

The work is part of the Network of Public Policies and Rural Development in Latin America, promoted by the Center for Research and Cooperation for Agriculture of France (CIRAD), in collaboration with numerous academic institutions and international organizations.
