Personalidad y usos de internet: Rasgos Normales vs. Continuos de la Personalidad

Resumen
El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar los continuos de la personalidad (combinaciones de rasgos patológicos y positivos) del Modelo Dual de la Personalidad y su relación con el uso de Internet comparándolos con los rasgos del Modelo de los Cinco Grandes Factores (FFM). Se estudió una muestra de 746 usuarios de Internet que tenían una edad promedio de 38.7 años (DE = 14.4, 57% mujeres). Los continuos de personalidad incrementaban la varianza explicada por los rasgos del FFM en cuanto al uso de plataformas de tipo utilitarias, y todos los tipos de uso. Los resultados aportan mayor evidencia acerca de la utilidad de uso de índices de continuos de rasgos para el estudio de la personalidad dado que se pudo observar que la valoración conjunta de aspectos patológicos y positivos incrementa la explicación del fenómeno bajo estudio de manera significativa.
