Abstract
Based on anthropological-medical basis, the expanded conceptualization of the extension of human gestation based on the altricity of newborns is exposed. It is proposed to consider both the intrauterine period and the 9 months after birth as complementary stages to consolidate the essential maturity for initial autonomous life.
