Technological capabilities in the Argentine automotive sector: can the pick-up segment lead growth?
Abstract
Argentina is one of the leading Latin American countries in the automotive sector, with some relative specialization in pick up production. In this sense, in this article we seek to deepen the analysis the technological capabilities of the pick ups’ sector in Argentina and its ability to lead the growth of the Argentinean automotive industry. Throughout their lives, companies accumulate knowledge and experiences that allow them to introduce innovations production to face changes in the environment. Based on qualitative research, we analyze the accumulated physical assets in the sector, intangible assets and the links between companies. The main results indicate that the pick up sector has accumulated the capabilities and knowledge necessary for its consolidation and expansion as Argentina´s core for the region.
