The education, and in particular, higher education, sciences and humanities were considered a priority during the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), from 2018 to 2024. In this government characterized as that of a fourth historical transformation of the country, placed higher education as a strategic factor to elevate and enhance intelligence, human talent and the ancestral and modern wisdom of our people offered with equity and equality, and above all as a means to combat exclusion, racism, intolerance and violence. This work presents the advances and achievements made during this government, especially since the implementation of legislative reforms and the definition of a new public policy on higher education, research and innovation in science, humanities and technology. However, the levels of inequality and the delays that still exist are also presented, derived from the inconsistency of the previous educational policies that left as a legacy high levels of segmentation in the supply and demand of the higher education level.
