Prácticas culturales en la formación de una comunidad de lectores. El caso de la Biblioteca Popular Vélez Sarsfield (1909-1934)

The following article is based on a reconstruction and analysis of the cultural practices carried out by the Vélez Sarsfield Popular Library during its first twenty-five years of life (1909-1934): conferences, celebrations, projects, soccer and chess championships in its dialogue with the possibility to create a community of readers and in the process of institutionalizing the library.
In value the role of this space in the neighborhood and local culture at the beginning of the 20th century, we workedwith a documentary corpus, of great patrimonial wealth, belonging to its archive: the Annual Memories of the Directive Commission of the Popular Library Vélez Sarsfield between the years 1909 and 1943, recently restored and listed.
