Abstract

The text compiles more than 20 years of experiences, learning and reflections on educational actions in the museum. It covers different perspectives that over the decades have nurtured and shaped the practices that museums have carried out in the name of education. It is a brief and general synthesis of the trends and movements that I have encountered throughout my career as a museum educator. From each topic there are countless dialogues to be established and perspectives to be explored. Therefore, far from seeking to exhaust the discussion, I propose that the text serve as a catalyst for ideas, reflections and conversations about what museums can offer in terms of education.

Author Biography

Ricardo Rubiales García Jurado, Comité de Educación y Acción Cultural CECA

Con estudios universitarios en museografía y ciencias de la educación y estudios de posgrado en neuropsicología y aprendizaje, actualmente se encuentra en su investigación doctoral sobre los cruces entre pedagogía y museología crítica. Participa como conferencista y facilitador en encuentros de profesionales de museos a nivel nacional e internacional. Además de diseñar y/o coordinar encuentros, seminarios y congresos virtuales y presenciales colabora como docente para diversas instituciones universitarias como la UNAM o el ITESM en México. Ha sido honrado con diferentes reconocimientos en el campo museístico entre los que se cuenta, en 2019, el premio CDT a la investigación educativa que otorga el Comité de Educación y Acción Cultural CECA del ICOM.
