Weaving a common history. Scenic approaches to extend hands and echoes with the Hotel Viña de Italia, Córdoba, Argentina

The event “Tell me something affectionate” was presented in October 2023 at the Mitre Railway Station, with a journey through the centuries-old stories of the Hotel Viña de Italia, in downtown Cordoba, Argentina. With narrations by women from the families that managed and inhabited it, photographs, songs and objects that they treasure, we sewed a performative conference. The performance was the result of an extension project of the call for the Management of Artistic and Cultural Activities 2023 of the Secretariat of University Extension, UNC. In this paper we share the creative approach to the work.
“Tell me something affectionate” was entangled with Performance Studies (PE), which promote crossings between sciences and arts, encourage hybrid ways of knowing, call for collective, open creations, with games of reiteration, improvisation, subversion. Following and reviving traces is linked to the concept of performance as a restored behavior always different from what it repeats. We inquired into the interdependence of performances and memories and unfolded oratures, embraced by the give and take of the messengers. We opened our hands, echoed and ate grapes.
