Conciencia silábica y conciencia fonémica ¿Cuál es el mejor predictor del rendimiento lector?

Resumen

La conciencia fonológica (CF) es un factor importante en el proceso de aprendizaje de la lectura y funciona como un robusto predictor del rendimiento lector. Asimismo, se ha postulado que la sensibilidad hacia algunas unidades lingüísticas como la sílaba (conciencia silábica) surgiría antes del inicio lector y otras habilidades de CF, como la conciencia fonémica, serían un subproducto del aprendizaje de la lectura. Este trabajo investiga el rol precursor de la CF en el aprendizaje de la lectura y establece qué habilidades de CF – y qué forma de evaluarlas -son mejores predictores del rendimiento lector. Los resultados obtenidos en este trabajo señalan que las habilidades de combinación de sílaba serían las más predictivas al correlacionar el rendimiento de los participantes en tareas de CF evaluadas durante Sala de 5 de nivel inicial (preescolar) y los resultados alcanzados por los mismos participantes en una tarea de lectura de palabras y no palabras al ser evaluados un año más tarde (en primer grado de educación primaria).
