Abstract

Our beloved journal Etcétera is celebrating its 15th edition, and we cannot help but think about the importance that this number has in our social fabrics. Anthropologist and friend Mariela Chervin explains that turning 15 marks passages, while offering the possibility of thinking of different ways to celebrate. If you want to join the celebration, pay attention to Mariela's list of the must-haves for a 15th birthday party: a story, someone who has a birthday and is dressed up, hosts, outfits, decorations, ceremonial equipment, gifts, partying, dancing, music, an outing, affection, memories, a cake and an open ending. It also tells us that 15th birthdays are an opportunity to reaffirm ties, break them, create new ones and reconfigure affective maps. How many hands did we take in these years? Who will we continue to walk with? Who will we no longer see? What other writings are yet to come? The 15th birthday is a time for gifts, and each of the publications in Etcetera is a gift waiting to be read. It is in this very troca that we stop to continue and, perhaps, transform the conversation. The voice of the birthday person acquires a significant weight, because it is an event that mounts a threshold, a voice that as Colectivo Editorial we have been supporting for seven years.
