Abstract

The "Pact of Bogotá" of 1948 is part of a system of peaceful settlement of disputes - belonging to the Inter-American System - and its value has been permanently discussed by specialized doctrine. This paper analyses its gestation and application in the American States, inquiries about the current status of ratifications, and assesses its suitability as a regional instrument.
