Abstract

Overfishing and its situation are aggravated by the subsidies received by the sector. For this reason the World Trade Organization (WTO) examined the importance of fishing subsidies and their different categories. Recently, the Twelfth WTO Ministerial Conference was concluded and contains a series of unprecedented decisions on fisheries: the Agreement on fisheries subsidies, an opportunity that justifies to be evaluated by the Argentine Republic.
