ENVIRONMENTAL INVENTORY AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT TOOL -DEFENSE NATURE RESERVE -

Abstract

This research paper is presented as an advance of the research project on environmental accounts and environmental accounting applicable to a public-private nature reserve, which includes the preparation of an environmental inventory as an input for such accounts. One of the objectives was to implement an environmental balance of the reserve, for which it was necessary to prepare an environmental assessment of the environmental assets that comprise it. The environmental balance is presented as an internal and external database instrument for decision-making as well as for structuring the environmental reserve´s assets and establishing their current state, which makes it possible to detect in successive records their alteration, conservation, rehabilitation, or loss, among other things. As a management tool, the inventory provides complete and orderly information for the prevention, conservation and sustainability of the nature reserve.
