PUBLIC COMPETITIONS IN THE COUNCIL OF THE MAGISTRACY: SUITABILITY, EQUALITY AND CHANCE

Abstract

The incorporation of the Council of the Magistracy at the national and provincial levels ought, among other things, depoliticize and give transparency to the systems of selection of magistrates. After addressing its origins and the way in which public tenders are developed in Córdoba, I will rely – based on a ruling of the Argentine Supreme Court – on the categories of equality and suitability to, introducing the element of chance in accessto public office, discuss the convenience of maintaining a meritocratic system such as the current one.
