Abstract

The objective was to determine the number of oral lesions based on the duration of exposure to gasoline suction activity and their location in the oral cavity. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 10 informal workers from the municipality of Maicao, Colombia. Information regarding their gender, age, years of exposure, number of lesions, and their location in the mouth was collected. It was found that 80% of the workers were men, with an average age of 50.9 ± 19.2 years and an average of 16.6 ± 10.1 years engaged in this activity. Oral lesions were observed in 7 out of the 10 subjects, with 5 of these lesions occurring in individuals with more than 5 years of experience in the activity. 43% of the lesions were observed on one of the cheeks in the form of erythema. In conclusion, most of the involved workers are men and the injuries tend to appear in the long term and on the cheeks.
