Abstract

The purpose of this work, is to rnake available to the clinical dentist a simple surgical technique. The Odontosection. With this technique, we can resolve efficiently the multiple problerns or inconveniences which corn up when rernoving a -éooth "intato''; teeth with root anomalies, partially or cornpletely irnpacted teeh and when faced with dilierent bone contour collformations. These procedures rninimize the possibility ~f accidents and cornplications which may arise during an extraction. Fifty five standarized extractions were practiced by odontosection using a conventional drill fitted with diarnond stones or tungsten carbide burs, It was thus possible to prove the feasibility of a surgical procedure which, with only sorne exceptiom:, can be performed by the general practitioner whó has had sorne surgical experience. It is therefore worthwhHe that the general practitioner becorne acquainted and practice this technique to solve the rnultiple problerns found removing teeth in toto. vVe can state, that according to our experience, this surgical procedure is simple, atraumatict e:egant, and productive, as long as it is performed within the requirements established by general surgical techniques, and the specific techniques refered to in this work.
