Abstract

Salivary glands are dependent on sexual hormones. The aim of the pr~sent work is to study the behavior of inflamatory response induced in animals th~t were castrated and injected with estrogens. Male adult wis tar castrated rats [60-90 daysl were used. A phlogogen pellet [zinc-oxT de-tupertine essencel was placed between their sublingual and submaxillary glands a·rúj they were daily injected with .5 units of estrogen The rats were killed after B and 12 days of treatment; submandibular pack was weign.ed. dissec.ted and fixed in, phormol Ph7 for: its morphohiJ!.tochemicál study

Phlogogen pellet breaks .o1,1t an acute inflammatory response that a..e pears attenuated in castrated animals. Such character is enhanced when estrogens are used, disappearing ductal ectasis, becoming evident a gr~nulation tissue of strange body· in phagocytic activity and in contact with the pellet. As a consecuence its follows that estrogen administration in castrated animals attenuates acute inflammatory response broken out by phlogo gen pellet. determining characters with tendency to chronicity and giantcells differenciation of strange body
