Abstract

A linear clinic and radiographic study is described. ls patients, 6 maJe and 9 female (age: from 40 to 70 years old), that used retentive spheres ("Ball Attachment Abutments") to support full arch inferior dentures and aVinylic Polisiloxan compound for its fixation and retention were followed up to 5 years. Results showed the satisfactory features of this technic. Bone resorption, radiographically tested by using periapical x-Rays and clinically corrúborated by using a plastic blunt instrument, was clase to 1 mm. Age factor showed very satisfactory results in young patients while sex did not show significative differences. Modifications of the Classical Technic in direct Ball Attachment Abutments aplication and the use of a low-viscosity elastomer (Vinil Polisiloxan) to achieve dentures fixation and retention to the attachment ( dinamometrically tested in 400 to 450 grs.) are discused. lts direct applicatipn allowed a proper oclusión that balanced masticatory effort and soft tissues resiliency. Clinic, radiographic studies and implant-prostetic diagnosis are af outmost importance in orderto determine number, diameter and position ofimplants along with its retentive spheres.
