Hans Seckt obtained his degree of Doctor in Philosophiae (Botany) at the University of Berlin.
Upon his arrival in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1906, he was appointed Professor at the Instituto Nacional del Profesorado Secundario and at the Colegio Nacional Bartolomé Mitre, attached to that Institute, a position he held until 1920. That same year he was appointed to the Botany professorship at the Doctorate School of Natural Sciences of the University of Cordoba, a school created in April 1918, where he remained until 1947, when he retired.
He was also a professor of Botany until his retirement, at the Colegio Nacional de Monserrat since 1925 and at the Escuela Normal "Alejandro Carbó" since 1928.
His original scientific production includes books and articles on General Botany, Systematic Botany, Hydrobiology and Phytogeography.
