Abstract

In the constant eagerness of a whole life dedicated to the speculations of the mind, in the softness and gentleness, which were of the essence of his privileged nature, the illustrious Brazilian jurist Olovis Bevilaqua passed away last July 26th in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This man of letters, thinker, philosopher, jurist, represents in the process of the juridical ideas of Brazil, one of the milestones that mark the ascending path of this admirable American people. In him, the philosophical depth of Tobias Barreto, spirit of a precursor and master in Brazilian thought, and the marvelous technique and depth of legal knowledge of Teixeira de Freitas, come together.

Author Biography

Enrique Martínez Paz, Academia Nacional de la Historia de la República Argentina

Enrique Martínez Paz (1882-1952) was an Argentine historian, philosopher, jurist and sociologist.

Son of Pedro Luis Martínez and Constancia Paz, he studied law at the National University of Córdoba, where he later became a professor. He was also dean of the Faculty of Law and a member for 22 years of the Superior Court of Justice of Argentina, of which he became president.
