Abstract

As this year marks the centenary of the National Constitution of 1826, we make this commemorative publication, following the official edition, printed at that time, and we re-produce it in this form for the first time, after a century; that is, since those days of its ultra-fleeting validity, when the Argentine people, free of auto-aristocratic suggestions, affirmed with the Creole energy, -of gaucho legend- the core of their ideal of native federalism.

    At the beginning of the 20th century and within the framework of different political and ideological debates that permeated cultural criticism in Argentina and Latin America, the historian J. Francisco V. Silva produced, crossing bridges between Argentina and Spain, a series of historiographic interventions that are eloquent of a particular way of counter-historicizing the liberal narrative already crystallized in the region. This paper attempts, in the first place, to characterize the intellectual and, then, to examine his main ideas about Argentina's past and their articulation with the pillars of a specific political project, called "panhispanist", expression of a vindicating vision of Spain's historical role towards a Spanish America besieged by the North American pretensions.
