Abstract

The article explores the differences between the prescribed curriculum and the actual curriculum in the teaching of physics in secondary education in Córdoba. The prescribed curriculum refers to the official documents that define the objectives, contents, and methodologies established by educational authorities. On the other hand, the actual curriculum refers to the practical implementation of the curriculum in the classroom, including the contents taught, the pedagogical strategies employed, and the adaptations made by teachers. It uses two strategies: content analysis of the official curriculum and data collection through surveys of 50 teachers. The results reveal that the prescribed curriculum prioritizes mechanical and thermodynamic topics and offers a balanced approach to other areas of physics. In contrast, teachers emphasize mechanics and thermodynamics more deeply, incorporating mathematics-related content at the expense of other areas of physics. The study also shows how the prior training of the teachers in charge of physics classes influences the selection of contents that shape the actual curriculum.
