Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Starting a university career can be stressful for some; they face challenges, and they experience a lack of emotional control, a new environment, the possibility of academic failure, loneliness, financial problems and limited relationship time, anxiety-generating situations.

OBJECTIVE: to determine the percentage of students with anxiety who answered the IDARE® questionnaire of the Chair of Psychosocial Medicine of the FCM-UNC in October 2018.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: descriptive, cross-sectional study. In an anonymous electronic survey distributed by an instant messaging link, to students of the Department of Psychosocial Medicine, FCM-UNC, in October 2018. The system collected 87 consecutive surveys (IDARE®), forming the population / sample. Students of both sexes, older than 18, who accepted and completed the anonymous online questionnaire were included.

RESULTS: The level of anxiety evaluated according to state and trait shows a high percentage of anxiety according to state (95.4%) and according to state 100%.

CONCLUSIONS: A high percentage would suffer anxiety (95.4% trait and 100% state). It is recommended to implement actions to prevent and reduce anxiety and conduct new IDARE® surveys to compare and confirm this data.
