CARACTERÍSTICAS CLÍNICAS ODONTOLÓGICAS DE PACIENTES NIÑOS BAJO TRATAMIENTO ONCOLÓGICO.

Resumen

El tratamiento oncológico actual ha permitido mejorar la supervivencia de los niños que padecen distintos tipos de cáncer. El objetivo de este trabajo fue describir el estado de salud oral de niños chilenos bajo tratamiento para el cáncer. El estudio se realizó bajo un diseño transversal, en donde se incluyeron niños diagnosticados con cáncer y tratados con radioterapia y / o quimioterapia entre 0,1 y 13 años de edad. A nivel odontológico la salud bucal fue considerada insuficiente. Conclusión: el índice CEO y ceo fue bajo en niños en tratamiento de quimioterapia o en la combinación de este último tratamiento con radioterapia. Además, presentan una deficiente Higiene Oral en gran porcentaje; aunque buenos índices de salud gingival en  niños sobrevivientes al  cáncer a largo plazo.
