La parótiga está enormemente desarrollada. Se extiende en el sentido vertical desde el borde inferior del zigoma al gonión y en el sentido ántero-posterior va desde el surco preauricular hasta el borde anterior del masetero. Tiene una forma triangular con el vértice dirigido hacia adelante. El vértice corresponde a la salida del conducto de Stenon. Su base, que es posterior, mide ochentiocho milímetros ( 88) ; su lado superior que está a un centímetro por debajo del zigoma, mide sesenticinco milímetros (65) y su lado inferior que atraviesa la parte media de la cara externa del masete-mide setentidós milímetros (72).

Vicente J. Bertola, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba
Vicente J. Bertola, nació el 15 de Diciembre de 1897 en Los Chañaritos (Provincia de Córdoba). Realizó los estudios primarios y secundarios en el Colegio de Nuestra Sra. de la Inmaculada, de los Padres Jesuitas, en Santa Fe. Estudió en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Córdoba, donde se doctoró en 1921. Ingresó en el Servicio de Cirugía del Prof. Dr. Antonio Nores, en el Hospital San Roque, donde se desempeñó como Jefe de Trabajos Prácticos durante los años 1928, 1932 y 1933 Jefe de Trabajos Prácticos en las Cátedras de Anatomía Descriptiva y Medicina Operatoria. Encargado del curso de Anatomía Descriptiva en 1933 y 1934. Su trabajo sobre “Anatomía Quirúrgica del Nervio Facial”, presentado en 1941 en la Academia Argentina de Cirugía, en Buenos Aires, fue laureado con el Primer
Premio, llenando de satisfacción al Maestro y a sus discípulos. Uno de ellos, el Prof. Mario Víctor Menso, recordará más tarde: “Realizamos 36 (treinta y seis) disecciones faciales, cada una con sus características particulares, motivo por el cual, no se encuentran dos fisonomías iguales, en lo referente a mímica, expresión o estado de ánimo”. En la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, se distinguió como miembro del H. Consejo Directivo desde 1936 y luego en su labor como Vice Decano, en el periodo 1940-1943.
Falleció a los 52 años de edad, el 29 de Marzo de 1950. La mejor descripción de su vida pertenece al Prof. Mario Víctor Menso que dice: “Bertola, fue un Maestro de verdad. Sus alumnos, discípulos y enfermos, fueron la razón de su vocación y por ellos bregó sin tregua, como médico y como docente, utilizando la energía de su propia convicción. Fue un propulsor del progreso de la Ciencia y el Arte Médico.” “Bertola, tuvo una formación moral, intelectual y espiritual de profundas convicciones cristianas y humanas, que le permitieron prodigarse con sapiencia y bondad. Murió como un verdadero franciscano y por ese motivo su ropaje final, fue el hábito de la Orden”.
